Spiced Nuts

SUBMITTED BY: Rab =: )

A friend gave me a cup of Spiced Pecans recently. They were s-o-o-o-o good, I really “rationed” them (only ate one or two pecan halves a day), and just finished them. =: )

YUMMMM!

I called her this morning to get the recipe, and have just made my first batch ~ they’re cooling now. (Boy the house smells good!)

Here’s the recipe, if you’re interested:

SPICED NUTS
~~~~~~~~~~~
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 egg white, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp each: cinnamon, allspice, ground cloves
  • 2 – 7 C pecan halves (or walnut halves, whole almonds, or etc.)
Mix everything together well and dump the nuts in. Stir well to completely coat. (She said her recipe called for 2 C nuts, but they use 6 or 7 C. I did about 2 1/2 C, what I had on hand, and don’t know if I’d done more that there would have been enough coating. So you’ll have to experiment with it.) Place on greased cookie sheet(s) and bake at 250 for one hour, stirring every 5 to 10 min. at first (so they won’t stick) and then about every 15 min. Turn out onto wax paper to cool. Store in ziplok bags.
~ Enjoy! =: )
